Acknowledgement and Acceptance Clauses
- By accessing the Foundation’s website or utilizing its services, you indicate that you have read, understood, and agreed to accept all provisions outlined in this Terms of Use. The Foundation will deliver services pursuant to this Terms of Use, as well as relevant laws and regulations of the Republic of China, and any rules, protocols, or norms pertaining to Internet use. Meanwhile, the Foundation reserves the right to amend the Terms of Use at any time.
- If you are under the age of eighteen, in addition to abiding by the Foundation’s website Terms of Use, you must ensure that a parent (or guardian) reads, understands, and agrees to this Terms of Use before registering as a member or accessing any information or services on the Foundation’s website. Your use of the service implies that your parent (or guardian) has read, understood, and agreed to all terms outlined in this Terms of Use.
Membership Registration Obligations
- When utilizing the membership services offered by this website, you are required to access your account using the username and password created during the registration process.
- Member accounts, usernames, passwords, and associated rights are intended for the sole use of the member and may not be lent, transferred, or shared with others.
- Members are responsible for managing and maintaining their accounts, usernames, and passwords, and for installing antivirus software on their computers or mobile devices. Any login attempt made following the prescribed steps using their usernames and passwords, irrespective of whether it was initiated by them, will be considered as the member accessing the account themselves. Members are solely responsible for any activity and its associated consequences that occur under their username.
- If members lose their usernames and/or passwords, discover that their accounts have been compromised by a third party, or encounter any security issues, they must promptly inform the Foundation. Failure to do so in a timely manner, or if inappropriate activities occur and the Foundation is unable to effectively prevent or rectify them, members are held solely responsible for any resulting losses. The Foundation will not be held liable.
- After completing your use of the services offered by the Foundation’s website, please remember to log out and close the window to protect your membership rights.
- In the event of your unauthorized use of another member’s account and password, resulting in losses to the member or the Foundation, and/or leading to investigation or legal action by the member or relevant authorities, the member or the Foundation reserves the right to seek compensation from you, including but not limited to litigation expenses, legal fees, and reputational damage.
Changes of Services
- You acknowledge and agree that the Foundation reserves the right to modify, amend, or terminate this Terms of Use at any time. All changes become effective immediately upon posting, and individual notification to each member will not be provided. By continuing to use the services offered by this website, you are deemed to have read, understood, and accepted the changes.
Newsletter Subscription and Event Notifications
- Members agree that the Foundation may occasionally send newsletters or event information to the email address they provided during registration. If members prefer not to receive newsletters or event information from the Foundation, please send an email to info@civictaipei.org to unsubscribe.
Online Donation Details Inquiry
- Membership registration on this website is required to access the donation inquiry feature. However, donations made prior to becoming a member will not be shown in the donation details.
Protection of Personal Information
The Foundation safeguards the personal information you provide pursuant to the Personal Data Protection Act, along with other relevant laws and regulations of the Republic of China, and the Foundation’s Privacy Policy.
By using this service or registering as a member, you consent to the Foundation collecting, processing, and utilizing the personal information you provide to us in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
All intellectual property rights associated with the software, programs, and website content utilized by the Foundation, including but not limited to works, images, files, information, data, website structure, website layout, and webpage design, are owned by the Foundation or other rights holders. These rights include, but are not limited to, trademark rights, patent rights, copyrights, trade secrets, and proprietary technology.
No individual may use, modify, reproduce, publicly broadcast, adapt, distribute, publish, publicly present, conduct reverse engineering, decompile, or disassemble the content of the Foundation’s website and services for any illegal purpose or in any illegal manner without prior permission. User’s Legal Obligations and Commitments
Members pledge to never use the Foundation’s services for any illegal purpose or in any illegal manner. Members agree to comply with the relevant laws and regulations of the Republic of China and all international practices and norms for Internet usage. For members located outside the Republic of China, compliance with their respective country or region’s laws and regulations is required. Members further agree and warrant that they will not use the services to engage in activities that infringe upon the rights of others or violate the law, including but not limited to:
Publishing or transmitting any defamatory, insulting, threatening, offensive, indecent, obscene, or untrue texts, images, or any other form of files, or those that are contrary to public order or good customs.
Infringing upon or damaging the reputation, privacy, trade secrets, trademark rights, copyrights, patent rights, other intellectual property rights, and other rights of the Foundation or others.
Interfering with or attempting to interfere with the normal operation of the Foundation’s website or this website using any equipment, software, or programs.
Violating confidentiality obligations stipulated in relevant laws, regulations, or contracts.
Falsely personating another to use this service.
Transmitting or distributing computer viruses or spam.
Protection of Children and Adolescents
To ensure the safety of children and adolescents when using the Internet and to avoid infringement of privacy, parents (or guardians) should fulfill the following obligations: Children under the age of twelve should be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while using this service. For adolescents aged twelve or older but under the age of eighteen, parents or guardians should also assess whether to provide consent before allowing them to use this service.
Member’s Authorization to the Foundation
Members agree that the Foundation may collect, process, store, transmit, and use the personal information provided by them during registration within the scope of their consent. This include providing users with additional information or services, compiling member statistics, conducting investigations or research on Internet behavior, or any other lawful use.
Except for personally identifiable information as defined in the Foundation’s website Privacy Policy, any materials, data, suggestions, content, ideas, concepts, professional knowledge, technology, questions, comments, or other communications (hereinafter referred to as “User Communication Data”) transmitted or published on the Foundation’s website in any way are considered non-confidential and non-patented and are presumed to be information with intellectual property rights. If you do not have the legal right to authorize or sublicense others, or if you have not obtained consent from others to authorize the use, modification, reproduction, public broadcasting, adaptation, distribution, publication, or public presentation of such communication data, do not upload, transmit, input, or provide such data to the Foundation’s website without proper authorization.

You also authorize the Foundation to sublicense the aforementioned rights to others. Members shall ensure that the Foundation’s use, modification, reproduction, public broadcasting, adaptation, distribution, publication, public presentation, or sublicensing of such data does not violate any third party’s intellectual property rights. Failure to do so may result in members being held liable for damages to the Foundation (including but not limited to litigation costs and attorney fees).
Refusal or Termination of Member’s Use
Members agree that the Foundation may, for the purpose of maintaining transaction security, reject or terminate members’ passwords, accounts (or any portion thereof), or the service itself for any reason, including but not limited to lack of use or violation of the explicit provisions and principles outlined in this Terms of Use. Additionally, the Foundation retains the right to remove or delete any “Member Content” within the service and may, upon notification or announcement, terminate the service or any part thereof at any time. Members further acknowledge that in the event of service termination, the Foundation bears no liability to the member or any third party.
Liability for Damages
If you violate relevant laws and regulations, member terms and conditions, or website terms of use agreement, resulting in damages or expenses (including but not limited to attorney fees and litigation costs incurred in legal proceedings) for the Foundation, its employees, contractors, agents, and other parties fulfilling obligations for the Foundation, you are held liable for damages and related expenses.
Limitation and Exclusion of Liability
All features provided by this service are offered as-is, based on their current state at the time of use. The Foundation does not provide any express or implied warranties regarding their performance, speed, completeness, reliability, safety, correctness, or any other aspect.

Moreover, it does not guarantee the transmission or storage of emails, files, or data will be correct, error-free, uninterrupted, or without disconnection. The Foundation disclaims any liability for damages arising from the failure, loss, or error in the transmission or storage of such emails, files, or data.
