As the gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen, and the distribution of resources remains uneven, we see a severe urban-rural disparity in China’s basic education. How do rural students get rid of the feeling of powerlessness? How do they develop independent and critical thinking skills?

Students can only afford RMB$1 (approx. US$0.16) per meal. Let us take a close look at education in rural China.
